These trees are native to the Eastern United States and are ideal hardwoods to use for hand-carved spoons. Each wood spoon is individually cut and sanded smooth. Unlike metal spoons, traditional hand-made wooden spoons do not transfer heat during cooking and are safe to use on all cooking surfaces, including your cast iron skillet. Lancaster Cast Iron spoons are oiled with food-grade mineral oil to preserve them for a lifetime of use in your kitchen. After each use, hand wash with warm soapy water and towel dry your wooden serving spoon. Periodically maintain with spoon and board wax to keep the wood from drying out.
