The Lodge Sweater in Sand Donegal
Made by: Taylor StitchCrafted from buttery baby yak wool—a soft undercoat shed annually by yaks—The Lodge Sweater side-steps the harmful environmental impact of traditional goat cashmere while retaining a soft, luxurious hand feel. Plus, Baby Yak is a far sight more durable than cashmere, ensuring this versatile, cross-season layer stays in your wardrobe and out of the landfill, For The Long Haul.
Farmed in remote, high-elevation conditions by local herders for millennia, yaks shed their downy undercoat every year (this is what’s called “baby yak”) for us to gather up, weave into an incredibly soft jersey knit fabric and tailor to perfection. It’s stronger, more sustainable, and just as luxurious in the hand as cashmere, and most importantly, it requires no invasive or abusive treatment of the animals. This time around, Taylor Stitch added just a touch of conventional wool to achieve a rich donegal finish.
